Electrical / Avionics Engineer

The electrical engineer will design, build, integrate, and test electrical and electronic equipment in prototype experimental aircraft in a fast-paced research and development environment. This work will span preliminary design, critical design, development, bench testing, debugging, experimental flight test engineering, and post flight data reduction.


  • Electrical system layout and installation
  • Design & development of software and hardware for communications, navigation & guidance and flight control systems
  • Solving complicated problems with simple software/hardware solutions
  • Supporting technicians and electricians
  • Simultaneous work on multiple projects

Required Qualifications / Experience:

  • Master of science in engineering, or substantial equivalent experience
  • Minimum of three years of related work experience
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace avionics and electrical technologies and products
  • Proficiency in software development
  • Strong problem solving, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work in multiple engineering disciplines on an aggressive schedule

Desired Qualifications / Experience:

  • Microcontroller or embedded processor programming experience
  • Experience with embedded linux, vxworks, or other embedded o/s
  • Proficiency with c and c++
  • Experience with matlab/Simulink, Labview
  • Experience with signal processing, analog and digital filters
  • Experience with FPGA’s and board layout
  • Rapid prototyping experience
  • Aircraft homebuilding experience
  • Pilot’s license
